Ivan is a well-recognized industry veteran in semiconductors. Prior to co-founding Vulcan, Ivan was CEO of JLQ Technology, a Qualcomm backed mobile and AIoT chip JV. As VP/GM of Marvell Mobile Business Unit of 1000+ employees, he led teams to deliver multiple generations of the industry leading TD-SCDMA, WCDMA and LTE chipsets and platforms to top smartphone makers and mobile carriers around the world. As Interim CTO and VP of Engineering, he led Marvell Central Engineering to deliver analog mixed signal IPs which include Long-Reach high speed SerDes for hyperscale datacenters. Ivan was VP/GM of UTStarcom IC Division which Marvell acquired. Ivan obtained his MS degree from Georgia Institute of Technology, and BS degree from University of Texas at Austin, all in Electrical Engineering.
Lu is a seasoned industry veteran with in-depth business and technical expertise. Prior to co-founding Vulcan, Lu led AI strategy and technology development at OmniVision Technologies as Sr. Director of Technology. Lu held various leadership roles at Marvell including Sr. Director of Marketing and Product Management of Mobile Business Unit responsible for 3G to 4G and single-core to multi-core chipsets and platforms. Lu was Director of Engineering at PicoMobile which Marvell acquired. He received over 10 issued US patents in the areas of signal processing, speech recognition, and wireless communication. Lu held a Ph.D. degree from Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada, in Electrical Engineering.
Alex is an industry leading expert in wireless and wireline communication systems and protocols. Prior to co-founding Vulcan, Alex was Sr. Engineering Director at ASR, a mobile and IoT chip startup company recently cleared for IPO on Shanghai STAR Market. As Sr. Director of System Engineering of Marvell Mobile Business Unit, Alex led multi-site teams with hundreds of engineers to develop high performance heterogeneous mobile computing platforms which include IMS and VoLTE. Alex developed the industry’s first 3G protocol stack in 2001 at UTStarcom. Alex held Ph.D. and MS/BS degrees from University of Science and Technology of China, in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Eugene is an industry leading expert in optical and Ethernet networks. Prior to co-founding Vulcan, Eugene co-founded ImmenStar, a PON chip startup which was merged into Cortina Systems and later Realtek Cortina Access. As CTO & VP of Engineering, he led teams to deliver 5 generations of PON OLT/ONU chipset solutions, including industry's first 10G Quad-OLT and AnyPON ONU/HGU SoCs for FTTH and RGU applications to top global carriers. As Force10 Networks Director of Engineering and Chief Architect, he led team to deliver industry's first 10G Ethernet ASIC for 1.6 Terabit Switch/Router. Eugene obtained his MS degree from San Jose State University in Electrical Engineering, and BS degree from Wuhan University of Technology in Automation Engineering.
Claire is a seasoned finance executive in the semiconductor industry. Before Vulcan, Claire was VP of Finance at SemiDrive responsible for corporate finance and fund-raising. She served as CFO of JLQ Technology where she was in charge of finance, IT and G&A. Claire served 18 years at Marvell, holding management positions in accounting, financial planning and management information systems including Controller of Greater China with over 2,000 employees. Previously she was Controller of Marvell Networking Business Unit with an annual revenue of $600 Millions. Claire held a Master degree in Accounting from the University of Colorado and Bachelor in Management from Shanghai University of International Business and Economics. Claire is a CPA in USA.
Paul was VP of Engineering at JLQ Technology. At JLQ, Paul led 200 engineers in the Software and Hardware Systems Platform Development and Customer Engineering teams to develop mobile communication and AIoT SoCs. For over ten years, Paul served at Marvell as Senior Director of Application Engineering responsible for global customer support of mobile handsets, APs and wireless product lines, and defining and developing customer turnkey designs. Before Marvell, he worked at Intel China for ten years, in different roles responsible for software development, server PV, technical marketing, software optimization etc. Paul obtained his Bachelor of Communication Engineering from Tongji University in Shanghai.
